The most wonderful nostalgic sight of Stanier heavy freight 2-8-0 locomotive 48151 hauling the FELLSMAN steam excursion train through Settle Station on its way north to Carlisle.

The wonderful nostalgic photograph above was sent to me by Barrie Woodward. I quote from his email: "Dears Sir, just been browsing through one of your site's pages and came across the Steam loco No 48151 which still seems to be in action, please find attached photo from 1955. I rode on this Engine (48151) many times as a young boy (no health & safety in them days). The Engine was on shunting duties at Roundwood sidings near Rotherham in South Yorkshire where my Father was head shunter, he's the chap on the bottom step with flat cap on. Please feel free to use this photo if it is of any use." Well, Barrie, I think its great and delighted to publish it, many thanks, definitely one for the family album! This image of 48151 goes nicely with some other black and white photos from a bit later, sent to me by a Paul Gray - at the end of the page.

Stanier 2-8-0 freight locomotive 48151 parked by York NRM being prepared another steam excursion train (July 10th 2016). 48151 regular works on the steam specials on the Carlisle-Settle line and the York-Scarborough line and now on the "Whitby Flyer" York Whitby Steam train in 2018.
