Cashel in Connemara is a village in County Galway, Ireland, known for its scenic coastal location and historical significance. The name "Cashel" comes from the Irish "Caiseal," referring to a stone ringfort that surrounds the old part of the cemetery in High Cashel. The remains of this fort lie on the slope of a mountain northeast of the town.

Cashel House, built in 1840, has a rich history. It was originally designed for Captain Thomas Hazell, an English landowner. Over the years, it became home to notable figures, including Jim O'Mara, Ireland's first official representative in the United States. The house was later transformed into Cashel House Hotel, which hosted General Charles de Gaulle of France during his Irish holiday in 1969.

St. James's Church and Pier in Connemara are part of the region's deep historical roots, though specific details about their history are less readily available. Connemara itself has a rich past, shaped by social and economic changes, including the Great Famine and the influence of the Catholic Church.

High Cashel Graveyard is linked to the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland’s most historically significant sites. The graveyard dates back to the early fourth century when the Kings of Munster ruled over the region. The site has been associated with legends, including one about Saint Patrick and the Devil’s Bit Mountain. The Rock of Cashel was also the scene of a tragic battle in 1647, where many defenders lost their lives.
