A summary of the chemical shifts of the 1H proton and 13C NMR spectra of buta-1,3-diene (1,3-butadiene)

Buta-1,3-diene, CH2=CH-CH=CH2, CH2=CH-CH=CH2, butadiene structural skeletal formula of buta-1,3-diene 1,3-butadiene isomer of molecular formula C4H6 , 1,3-butadiene, a diene

Number of low resolution NMR chemical shift δ signal peaks: 2 1H and 2 13C

For the NMR spectra of buta-1,3-diene (1,3-butadiene), reading the formula of from left to right and applying the simplified n+1 rule for chemical shift splitting due to immediately adjacent non-equivalent protons:

1H NMR integrated ratio of peaks: 4 (2+2) : 2 (for equivalent protons)

1H NMR signals ppm: 5.04/5.14, 6.27  (in CDCl3)

In reality the splitting is much more complex than this.

Both end =CH2 protons have slightly different chemical shifts, they experience slightly different proto fields because of 'diagonal' shape of the molecule (illustrated by the skeletal formula)

13C NMR signals ppm: ~117, ~137 (in CDCl3)
